Workplace Health
and Safety

Workplace health and safety programs benefit employees, help a business retain staff, and have a significant impact on the bottom line. Implementing and regularly updating a workplace health and safety program is one of the best decisions a trade business can make.
When evaluating your current practices, ask yourself:
Are you having problems keeping up with or understanding what is required to keep your trade business up to date with, or ahead of, health and safety legislation?
Are you unsure if your business is on track for providing a safe environment for your staff?
Do you have a system but not sure if it is current or what the next steps are?

Laws and Guidelines

Trade business owners are required by law to comply with Work Health & Safety (WHS) legislation, and each state had different forms of this legislation. All states except Victoria and Western Australia must comply with the Work Health & Safety Act 2011, including the WHS Regulation 2011 and relevant codes of practice. Navigating these regulations as a trades business can be complex, therefore we provide you will all the tools and advice required to simplify the process.

As of January 2013, new Work Health and Safety regulations state that a “Person Conducting a Business or Undertaking” (PCBU) – which therefore applies to all trades businesses – must provide and review a Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) for high-risk construction work. All our client packages provide the tools and advice required to meet this legislation.
